All educational institutions, including both public and private schools, colleges, and universities in Punjab, are set to suspend operations from February 6 to 9 in light of the upcoming general election scheduled for February 8.

The interim Chief Minister announced the decision on X, stating, “Crucial Update: Anticipating the forthcoming general elections on February 8, the Provincial Cabinet has approved the closure of all educational establishments, both in the public and private sectors, in Punjab from February 6th to February 9th. The 9:30 am schedule for schools will only be applicable until February 3rd, with regular timings resuming thereafter.”

In addition to the previously declared public holiday for Kashmir Day on February 5, the extension of holidays from February 6 to 9 implies that educational institutions will resume normal operations on February 12 following a week-long hiatus.

An uninterrupted sequence of eight holidays is anticipated, spanning from February 4 to February 11. February 4, being a Sunday, initiates the break, followed by the observance of Kashmir Day on February 5. The proposed hiatus is expected to continue from February 6 to 10, aligning with the election period, concluding with another Sunday on February 11. Subsequently, educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, are slated to recommence regular classes on February 12, marking the conclusion of the speculated eight-day pause.
